Model BVS-1, BVS-2 and optional BVS-1-OPT02 CCD Camera System
Colutron Research presents the new BVS-1 and BVS-2 Beam Viewing Systems. The BVS systems provide an easy, quick and low cost solution for beam profile analysis of electron, ion, and neutral beams as well as UV and X-rays. The compact systems measure 2" long (50.8mm) and adapt to standard 2 3/4" (BVS-1) and 4.5" (BVS-2) conflat flanges. The systems provide viewing areas of 19mm (BVS-1) and 44mm (BVS-2) in diameter. The image is formed using a microchannel plate (MCP) in combination with a phosphor screen. This arrangement makes it possible to analyze a much wider range of beam intensities and energies than the conventional stand alone phosphor screen method. Integral MHV vacuum feedthroughs are used to safely apply high voltages required by the MCP and phosphor screen. The system is suitable for ultra-high vacuum (UHV) applications. Options available include: dual MCP stack for increased gain, MCP performance enhancement coatings for UV and x-rays, beam attenuation grids to prolong MCP lifetime when monitoring high intensity beams, and an attachable CCD camera for monitoring or recording the image from a remote location (sample picture of hydrogen ion beam taken with BVS-1 and CCD camera). Optional microsphere (MSP) plates are also available in a single or dual stack. These plates have higher gain per stage, no ion feedback, and less severe vacuum requirements than MCPs, but have poorer spatial resolution (see MSP - MCP Comparison Chart and Beam Viewing System Specifications). The BVS Internal Detector Assembly (IDA) is also available separately, if the BVS glass port vacuum chamber is not required. Also, a Power Supply Control Unit (PCU) is available. Some typical applications for the BVS systems include:
